Who doesn’t love a doughnut? For Daina this business provides her family with a small income but since the introducing of the fuel-efficient cookstove, life has improved for her.
54-year-old Daina explained, “I have seven children so every day I have to collect water, prepare the food, farm and other duties but I don’t have to collect much firewood thanks to my Changu Changu Moto.
“For cooking my mandazi (doughnut), I used to use 15 pieces of wood on the old three stone fire but now I only need three pieces. This saves me time and means I can make more mandazi to sell and make more money.”
