This year Matilda has been running awareness sessions and teacher training at schools to help teachers adapt their lessons for children that require additional support.
As a result, Matilda has raised the profile of her Disabilities and Rehabilitation work and registered 17 new clients. Some of these she met at pre-schools and primary schools.
Matilda said, “At Katenthere Pre-school there are four children with disabilities learning there – three have cerebral palsy and one a visual impairment. Only one was registered with us but I have now met the parents of the other three children and we will establish how we can support them. The teachers were happy to have me there because they were struggling to handle these learners but I have now taught them techniques to help.”
