We can’t let World Water Day pass without sharing a clean water story so let us introduce you to Chin, a student at Kapanda Community Day Secondary School. She lives at the girls boarding house and is busy pumping water to do her washing.
The girls dormitory is home to over 70 students. Living at school has many benefits for these girls including providing a safe place to live, time to study after school without having to travel long distances and do domestic chores and more importantly, less chance of dropping out of school due to unplanned pregnancies or getting married.
It’s not only schools that have benefitted from boreholes being repaired but since the pandemic started, we have funded the repairs of hundreds of boreholes in villages too.
Working with the District Council repair teams, to date we are proud to have repaired 500 boreholes and we’d love to help hundreds more villages.
A repair can cost as little as £100 – not much when one borehole supplies water to an average of 150 people several times a day each. Give the gift of clean water today: https://rippleafricausa.org/water/
