It has been a busy time in Salima District for Beach Village Committees (BVCs) and Village Natural Resource Committees (VNRCs).
Along with educating communities on the importance of protecting breeding areas and sustainably catching fish, they have been cleaning beaches too.
Some of the BVCs, including Kasankha BVC seen here, have even been creating underwater gardens for the fish. The vegetation has been put into the lake to help protect the fish and give them a safe place to breed.
