Our family planning and sexual health team use sport to reach youngsters but that’s not the only project using sport to raise awareness.
Our Fish for Tomorrow project recently held two days of football and netball matches in order to educate communities on the project. Spanning 450 km of lakeshore and including the conservation of cichlid fish in Lake Malawi National Park, a large part to the success of the fish conservation project is changing peoples’ mind-sets.
The team use different platforms to educate all members of the community and the two sport events welcomed over 10,000 spectators between them. Held in Nkhudzi and Cape Maclear, the games were broadcast live on community radio with information shared on why it is important to conserve Lake Malawi’s cichlids.
