Chibisa Forest Conservation Committee are hard at work again maintaining firebreaks.
The vice chairperson of the group, Symon Nyirongo said, “I am totally amazed to see how fast the trees have grown back. In 2018 it was just small bushes but now we are doing regular patrols to ensure the trees are not cut down and they are growing well.
He continued, “To help us further, we wish to start bee keeping as they provide the trees with natural protection because people are scared (of bees).”
The committee would also be able to generate an income through the sale of honey which will support their conservation efforts.
