Greetice is 38 and has four children. As well as looking after her children, she is also Secretary of the Yaye Beach Village Committee in Thotho – one of the hardest to reach places in Nkhatabay.
At a recent women empowerment event, Greetice was encouraging her fellow women to play a leading role in the fight against children becoming involved with fishing and dropping out of school and against fishermen using illegal fishing gears.
She said, “Many of us ladies will suffer a lot if the fish finish in the Lake as we depend on the fish to sell. By selling fish we can send our children to school and buy other everyday items that we need for our homes.”
