Today is International Day of Education and a stark reminder that not everyone has access to an education. Here are some facts from the UN:
- 258 million children and adolescents around the world do not have the opportunity to enter or complete school
- 617 million children and adolescents cannot read and do basic math
- less than 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa complete lower secondary school
- some four million children and youth refugees are out of school
We are playing our part to make sure pre-school education is accessible in and around Mwaya by providing early years education to more than 850 children and around 150,000 school meals every year.
In a couple of weeks time we will be running our Ripple Africa week to raise funds to continue running this project. We have provided schools with resources to support their awareness raising and fundraising activities but you too can help.
Every little helps so you can raise awareness by sharing this post or make a donation today, just £1 provides an education and meal for a child for a week. Visit https://rippleafricausa.org/school-meals/
