Mike has been supported by the Disabilities and Rehabilitation project for many years and he is always so happy.
In 2018, thanks to a kind donor, he was equipped with a new wheelchair as previous ones had broken and although it has lasted him well, he is now in the same position again.
However, there is some good news. Project manager Matilda has made a few phone calls and managed to secure one for free. This is brilliant news as wheelchairs are expensive in Malawi.
We will be providing the transport and accommodation costs for Mike and his guardian so he can travel to the centre to be fitted for the chair.
We cannot wait to share an update when Mike is back home with his new chair, keep an eye out!

UPDATE
Last month we shared Mike’s story and how he was in need of a new wheelchair.
After Matilda made a few calls, she was able to secure one from Malawi Against Physical Disability and on International Day of Persons with Disabilities we are happy to share this short video of Mike at home with his new chair.
He is so happy especially as there will be traditional dancing and football matches in the lead up to Christmas. Now that Mike has a working wheelchair, he will be able to attend.
This piece of equipment really is the difference between being left at home and being able to experience and join in family life.
