Schools in Malawi are closed now for the holidays but before pupils headed home, they were busy watering the fruit trees to ensure they have enough water during the four week holiday. Maston, our Fruit Tree Project Manager, visited the different school environment clubs to congratulate them on their efforts.
He also gave out Awards to students who showed effort and dedication to caring for the trees. There were Awards for the top pupils in pruning, watering and natural fertiliser making too.
Maston said, “Each student received an exercise book, pens and pencils and it has really motivated them. The headteacher and school committees appreciate these clubs as the learners gain knowledge and skills that will help them in the long term.”
