Whilst we have reported positive change happening in the forest with land naturally regenerating, the Forestry Department – with the support of Forest Conservation Committees – still have a challenge on their hand to stop charcoal production entirely.
A recent night patrol saw another 100 bags of charcoal confiscated. Although the confiscation itself is positive, the Forestry Department still have work to do to crack down on the charcoal producers.
Forest Conservation Committees will continue their efforts to educate people to understand the damage being done and the importance of conserving trees too.
