Storm crisis appeal
Yes, I will helpSupport our storm crisis appeal
The climate crisis is already bringing more intense rainfall and more frequent floods to Malawi, and already this rainy season we are seeing lots of damage caused to properties and farming land.
For this reason, we have set up a crisis fund so that we are able to act quickly to repair damage caused by heavy rains and high winds and prevent higher rebuilding costs in the future.
We need your help. If you would like to contribute to this fund, please make a donation today.
Crisis Appeal Goal
Storm damage
One example of damage caused is to Mr Khwewe’s house at Matete Primary School. The teacher’s roof was blown off completely in the high winds and the toilet was also badly damaged.
Luckily the family wasn’t in the house at the time so no-one was injured but we expect that there will be more damage and possible injuries to come as the heavy rains are continuing. We want to repair the damage as soon as possible because if more heavy rains come, the whole house will probably be destroyed.
Other damage caused includes the roof at Mwaya Pre-school so now part of the pre-school is off limits to the children and other buildings have experienced minor structural damage but if not repaired soon, could get much worse.
