President of Malawi Lazarus Chakwera has announced an initiative to clean-up Malawi. On the second Friday of every month between 2pm until 5pm, Malawians in urban and rural areas are encouraged to go out and clean-up their local area.
Launching the initiative on Wednesday in Lilongwe under the theme, “A Clean Environment: My Right, My Responsibility”, the first National clean-up starts today, Friday.
Ripple Africa’s Country Director Force Ngwira said, “We’re so excited about this initiative! We have been supporting communities near our headquarters to clean up their villages for the last two years and it’s great that the same thing is now going to be happening across the whole country. We need to protect our environment and I’m looking forward to living in a clean and attractive Malawi!”
President of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera said, “A clean environment is part of the new Malawi we are building, and each of us has a responsibility to make that a reality.”
