Our improved orange-fleshed sweet potato project not only benefits individual families but local community groups grow them too to support others in their community.
The Umoza and Chiziya Care Groups are two such groups of people who educate and support community members with nutritional information.
The group met last week to discuss how best to multiple to vines to maximise the number produced so more can benefit from these high yielding and rich in Vitamin A sweet potatoes – ideal for young children and mothers.
Each group has around 20 members who are now busy preparing the land for multiplying the vines. Once multiplication takes place, the new vines will then be distributed to more families in need to plant during the rainy season.
